Go for an easy one hike along the Lycian Way – a great choice for spring break. The trip takes place with comfortable accommodation in hotels, cozy guesthouses and camping cabins, and things are transported by car. Therefore, it is a suitable hike and active recreation for families with children.

The route is suitable for both beginners and more experienced hikers: impressive bays, Fethiye, Kabak, Faralya, Butterfly Valley, Mount Olympus and the ancient city, Chimera Fire. A moderately difficult hiking trip in the mountains along the Mediterranean Sea allows you to combine active holidays with children's holidays with relaxation in nature and cultural exploration.

Route stretches in the mountains along the sea, so almost every day there will be an opportunity to swim and enjoy the sun on wild and non-wild beaches - ideal for a spring break trip.

It is also a culinary journey through Turkey: authentic Turkish food, fresh fruits and vegetables, sea fish and delicacies, freshly squeezed pomegranate and orange juice. And hiking and comfort in one ! 🙂

Highlights

Day 1. Arrival in Fethiye and meeting with the group.

Flight to Turkey, Antalya or Dalaman. You will travel independently to Fethiye, where you will be met by your guide and the whole group. We will stay in a cozy hotel, where a hearty and delicious breakfast will await us.

In the evening, we will go on a leisurely sightseeing tour of the old town, immerse ourselves in the atmosphere of the Mediterranean coast and feel the slow, relaxing rhythm of life in Fethiye.

Fethiye is a charming resort town surrounded by mountains, with a rich Lycian history, a picturesque harbor, ancient tombs carved into the rocks, and an old town with narrow streets.

We recommend spending your first evening at the famous fish market, where you can choose your own fresh seafood and order it prepared at local restaurants. This is a great opportunity to taste local cuisine, get to know your group, and discuss the entire itinerary.

Day 2. "Ghost Town" Kayaking and the beginning of the Lycian Way hike.

After breakfast we go to Kayak (Kayaköy) – a once prosperous Greek city, now called a „ghost town“. Here, empty stone houses, old churches and winding streets still remain, reflecting the dramatic history of the 20th century. It is believed that this is the beginning of the Lycian Way, and this is where we will begin our hike.

After passing through the historical part of the city, we will move towards Ovacık village. On the way we will stop to enjoy fresh fruits and vegetables from the local market.

In the second half of the day, our hike along the famous On the Lycian Way (Likya Yolu). The trail gradually climbs the slopes of Mount Babadaža (1989 m) and offers impressive views of the Oludeniz lagoon - one of Turkey's most famous natural wonders.

We will spend the night in the forest near a natural spring, near the village of Kirimė.

Day 3. Babadag Foothills - Faraliya - Butterfly Valley Panorama - Kabak

In the morning we will go down towards Worm (Worm) village, where you can taste freshly squeezed orange and pomegranate juice. We will continue along the mountain paths to Faralya – a small village located on a rocky cliff above the sea. Here we will stop at a viewing platform, which offers a breathtaking view Butterfly Valley image.

We will continue our journey to the cozy Cabbage (Cabbage) a village with a beautiful bay, beach and a peaceful atmosphere that exudes the true spirit of wild Turkey.

About Butterfly Valley:
It is a remote bay surrounded by high cliffs, known for its waterfall, crystal-clear beach, and rare butterfly species, especially during the summer.

Day 4. Kabak – mountain waterfalls – Kabak**

This day will be dedicated to for rest and recovery after previous longer hikes. And for active and not tired hikers there will be many activity opportunities.

In the morning we will easily climb the mountain slope and reach the picturesque Kabak Falls, which have large natural "pools" suitable for refreshing swimming. Here we will have lunch surrounded by nature and return to the camp.

In the second half of the day we will be waiting for seaside vacation in Kabak Bay. There is an opportunity to walk along a picturesque mountain path to the wild Paradise beach. There is an opportunity to return from there by boat. Everything will be arranged on site, depending on the condition, wishes and weather conditions of the travelers.

Day 5. Kabak – Chimera Fire – Çiraly

After breakfast, we will have a longer transfer to Ulupınar the outskirts of the town.
From here we will go to Yanartaş mountain, where we will observe a unique natural phenomenon – Chimera Flames.

According to ancient legend, the mythical monster Chimera was imprisoned here, and so it continues to emerge from the ground to this day. eternal flames, which are created by natural gas.

As we descend, we will see even more flames. This is a great opportunity bake bread or sausages on a natural fire.

After the hike we will go to Cirali – a cozy town on the seashore, filled with the scent of blooming oranges and tangerines. There are excellent beaches with a stunning view of the famous Mount Olympus.

Day 6. Cirali – Ancient Olympus – Antalya

After breakfast we will travel to Olympos's sons-in-law a city whose ruins are located in the territory of a national park, between the town and the sea. Its history, shrouded in legends, dates back to ancient times. We will explore the old streets, buildings and surviving traces of the Lycian civilization.

Later, we will stop by the sea for swimming and relaxation.

We will gather in the afternoon, get in the car and go to Antalya Airport, where we will arrive around 5:00 PM. This is where our trip will end.

Things needed for the hike:
A small 15-20 liter backpack to carry lunch, water, and personal items for the day, we recommend a camelback for water, but regular bottles and water bottles are also suitable:
comfortable trekking shoes (wear suitable for long walks);
trekking poles;
shoes for relaxation and leisure (sandals or slippers, light sneakers, rubber slippers or crocs);
fleece sweater or warm sweater;
lightweight hiking pants and a waterproof windbreaker;
thermal underwear;
trekking socks;
short-sleeved T-shirts (sports);
shorts;
underwear;
Panama hat, hat or sun hat, sunscreen;
sunglasses;
swimsuit or swimming trunks.

Where to arrive?

You need to fly to Antalya or Dalaman airport. Our journey begins in the city of Fethiye.

  • If you come to Antalya: after leaving the airport, go up the stairs to the tram. Here you need to buy Antalya Kart card and go to the bus station (Otogar). From there, take a bus to Fethiye - the journey takes about 5 hours. Once in the city, you can take a taxi or dolmus (minibus) to the hotel, or walk.

  • If you arrive at Dalaman Airport: from here there is a direct bus to Fethiye (about 40 minutes drive). You can then reach the hotel by dolmus or taxi, or on foot.

What additional costs will I incur?

Most of the basic expenses are already included in the tour price. You may also need about €80-200 for souvenirs, coffee during dinner, and other small expenses. It is advisable to exchange money in advance, as cards are not accepted everywhere.

Route and requirements for participants

The hike takes place in mountainous areas, therefore:

  • will be mountain trails and canyons;

  • the trails are not the easiest, but they are definitely manageable;

  • often occurs prickly plants, so it is advisable to go with high boots or trousers.

Required:

  • hiking experience or normal physical fitness.

If necessary, the route can be interrupted in the nearest village and headed to the coast.

Age limits: from 10 to 60 years old.
⚠️ Children under 18 can only participate if accompanied by an adult.

End of the hike
The trip ends in the village of Cirali. From there, transportation to Antalya Airport is organized. The trip by car to Antalya Airport takes just over an hour. We arrive at the airport at around 5:00 PM.

We recommend staying in Turkey for 1-2 more days after the hike. In any case, it is advisable to buy return tickets for a later time, no earlier than 9:00 PM.

Sports insurance

Travel insurance with the option "Active Leisure" covers the treatment of injuries or illnesses that occur while engaging in sports or active activities that are usually not included in standard insurance. This can be skiing, jet skiing, motorcycling or mountaineering. Such protection helps to avoid high costs for medical care, transportation or other unforeseen situations related to active leisure.

Passport and visa

Lithuanian citizens do not need a visa to travel to Turkey, as there is a visa-free regime. When crossing the border, it is necessary to have a valid passport, the validity of which must be at least six months from the date of arrival. The passport must be in good condition and have free space for stamps. 

Accommodation

We will spend the first night in Fethiye at a hotel. All other accommodations are in campsites, but in cabins, or in guesthouses. Toilets and showers with hot water are usually separate, in the camping area. They are either guesthouses or inside. Usually accommodations are in rooms or cabins for two. But there may be other accommodation options.

Mobile communication and electricity
  • Mobile communication and internet work almost throughout the route, except for some canyons.

  • International communication is expensive.

  • We recommend purchasing a local SIM card.

  • Since we will be staying in hotels, guesthouses and campsites, they usually have wifi. There is also electricity and electrical sockets, and there is a possibility to charge your devices. Plugs and sockets are standard, like ours.
Power supply

The hike includes two meals per day:

  • hot breakfast ordered at a hotel, campsite or guesthouse, or prepared by a guide;

  • for lunch — sandwiches, fruit and other snacks prepared by the guide. We distribute them in the morning before the start of the hike, everyone carries a picnic basket and water, we have lunch in nature, during the hike. Sometimes there are inns along the way, those who wish can have a meal or a snack, drink coffee, tea, or soft drinks there. 

  • Dinners on your own, in local pubs, cafes, restaurants.

    ⚠️ If you have any dietary restrictions, please inform us in advance.

Insects
  • There are almost no ticks and mosquitoes.

  • Spiders and scorpions are very rare.

  • During all our hikes, no one had been bitten.

Tips:

  • check shoes before wearing them;

  • don't just sleep on the grass.

Weather
  • In the spring: by the sea up to +20 °C during the day, about +10 °C at night; there may be snow in the mountains; when it gets cloudy — 5 °C cooler.

  • In autumn (from late September to late October): on a sunny day up to +25 °C, at night about +12 °C; when it rains — during the day +15 °C, at night +5 °C; on Mount Tahtali — about +3 °C.
